Below you will see my two images from Wordle. The first is captioned with "2000", the second with "2008". The image labeled 2000 is a demonstration of NETS.S standards and performance indicators. What I found in the 2000 guidelines was a dedication to productivity. It seemed to focus on what the teachers and students could get out of using technology and how it can be used to increase collaboration. Although that is a positive application of technology, the 2008 standards seem to focus more and the development of student learning and growth. I think this is a great direction for the technology world to take because student development in this area will continue to take our country and our educational system exponentially further each year. If we can properly teach our youth the practical and impactful application of technology instead of using just social media and games, our development as a system will be able to grow.

When I conducted my t-test to test the difference between the male and female scores, I was able to see the results of a one tail and a two tail test. My one-tail test resulted with 1.60684.. and my two tail resulted in 3.21368. The one-tail test had a P value of greater than .05 which means that there was no significant difference. The two-tail test results were greater than .05, which shows that there was no significant difference. Without a significant difference, we must accept the hypothesis showing that there was no difference between the male and female scores.

In my future classroom, I would like to create a student performance evaluation for the first few weeks of the school year and do the same evaluation at the end of the year. This way I am not basing my student comparison solely on test results, but instead on a performance evaluation so that I can see how my students are performing in class. The evaluation could show everything from content comprehension to student participation to show a comprehensive view of their classroom involvement. Comparing their results from the beginning of the year to the end could demonstrate how effective my classroom and teaching techniques are as well as showing my student’s perspective.

I would use the beginning of the year scores and the end of the year scores as the categorical independent variable. I would use a comparison test in a non-special needs classroom as the continuous dependent variable. My research question is to see if my students improve over the year in comparison to their general education classroom peers. My hypothesis is that my students will improve along the same rate as their general education peers. My null hypothesis would be no significant difference.

I would like to take this time to analyze two states. Although I am from Virginia, my area is just outside of DC. So, as a tribute to my hometown I decided to look at both places. Virginia, where I went to school has some incredible academic programs and the Northern Virginia area is blessed with many wealthy families who commute in and out of DC at high paying government jobs. I find this interesting because those who live in the city of DC tend to have difficulty getting higher standard education and therefore end up with low paying jobs.
The first name on the list in order from lowest score to highest is coincidently District of Columbia. Their scale score is 200.6279879. Virginia is listed as number 44 and their score is 226.3784347 for all the students. The average score is 220.4077278, so Virginia is above that while DC is well below that. DC is listed first, showing that there are no states lower than them. Virginia has 43 states below them and 7 states above them.

 

 

 

A rubric is a means of describing a teacher's expectations for a specific assignment. This may be provided to the students prior to beginning the assignment, or after the completion of the assignment so that the student can understand a teacher's grading scale. They can help grade student's work but it can also show the student the areas of improvement that is needed on the assignment or skill that is being graded.

You can make a rubric easily by going to rubistar.com and choosing an activity that corresponds to your lessons. You can use a template or create your own. Once you have filled in the appropriate standards you can publish the rubric, save it to excel or screenshot it and upload it to screencast.

A Jing Snap Shot of my map I made in Google maps. This is a map of my hometown. I take the field trip from my parent's house in Chantilly to a few of my favorite historical landmarks and finally my favorite bars! A small tour of what I would normally do at home! :) Enjoy! And come visit!
