http://screencast.com/t/Rb3sNMbqr3sT

1. How do you determine and control the recording area of your screen capture?
To begin, use the sun icon located on your desktop. As you roll your mouse over, you will see three options. Choose the Capture option and it will show you an icon that you place in the corner of the screen you would like to demonstrate in the video. As you drag that out, the screen gets larger and when you release your mouse click it will determine the total size of your screen capture. A pop up menu will appear and you can choose video to begin recording.

2. What are the options for saving a screen capture?
You may save this screen capture to your computer if preferred, or you can directly upload it to your screencapture login.

3. Where is the screencapture on your computer and how do you retrieve it?
After saving it, it will be saved to the location you chose. For example, if you chose to save it to your desktop, it will be there. If you choose to upload it to the screencapture website, it will be public and accessible to you after login and to the public.

4. How do you push it to the internet and to others?
You may choose to upload it to the screencapture website, or you may share this video. If you choose to share it, you may upload it to your social media or you may email it to your contacts.

5. What filetype is a Jing screencapture video?
Jing saves it as an SWF, called a Shockwave Flash File.

6. The Jing sun has three prongs. What do the three prongs do?
You can choose one of the three prong options: Capture, History, or More. Capture gives you the tool to select your screen size that you want to save or upload, History shows you the previous screen captures, and "more" will bring you to a separate screen allowing you to exit Jing, change your preferences and ect.

New to Diigo!

The browser I use is Internet Explorer, which I have been putting off updating to Google Chrome. This browser still works well for me, and I am happy with its results. Tabbed browsing and add-ons have only increased the capability and accessibility of my internet usage.

Expanding your browser's capabilities by using add-ons is a great way to get the most out of your internet experience. Since I enjoy cooking, I would like to describe my personal definition of how add-ons contribute to online experiences. I use my KitchenAid mixer to mix dry and wet ingredients, but when I began purchasing other attachments for the mixer, I could roll pasta dough, make ice cream, attach a food grinder and even strain my vegetables and pasta. These increased my usage and helped my abilities to increase. The browser add-ons I am currently using include bing, my favorites bar, ebay, WebSlice Gallery and Diigolet.
The ISTE indicator that I believe this clearly indicates is Model Digital Age Work and Learning where teachers exhibit knowledge, skills and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Fluency in technology will continue to be an on-going battle with students as they choose to use the social media technology outlets the most and ignore the best technological advances that may actually help them in their future work places.

Revisiting my Resume

rezscore.com is a great resource for improving your resume before you send it out to employers. The first time I submitted my resume, it received a B-. As I followed their tips to improve my resume, I felt like it was an incredibly impersonal way to grade a resume, but I fixed as they had asked. However, when I re-submitted it, I got a B. Clearly, my corrections weren't to the degree it was expecting.

I have spent quite a lot of time working on my resume over the years. With this resume (with updates of course) I have landed two full time positions with benefits,  two graduate assistantships and several seasonal positions. I am happy with the way my resume looks and I will continue to use and update it as necessary. There are a lot of opinions about how a resume should look and what it should contain, and I think this website was a great resource for tweaking resumes. However, I would not base my resume changes solely on the outcome of this website's grade.

Picasso Self Portrait

Pablo Picasso, a famous artist (he painted, sculpted, printed and did ceramics..) was known for his work during the 20th century. Although some may say he was troubled or strange, I think most artists are. I would never call myself an artist, but I do enjoy sketching and painting every once in a while. I have never done a computer rendition of a sketch, so creating a self portrait on the computer was a little odd to me, but Gallery Picassohead made it a lot of fun!

Whenever the topic turns to art, there is a soft spot in my heart for artists because my paternal grandmother is an artist. Although her health isn't great, she still enjoys her oil paintings and they have been a source of comfort for me over the years. I don't know if I got her love for art, but I love her with all my heart and her paintings will always be a part of my history.

During this self portrait, I have to say I was not as dedicated to this assignment as some of the previous ones. I found it interesting and fun, but I felt like it was an excuse to use the snipping tool. I don't mind having a bit of relief from more serious subjects, so I hope you enjoy seeing my personal rendition of a Picasso portrait!http://www.picassohead.com/

Snipping tool

Snipping tool!

This was a really interesting new tool I haven't used yet, and I think it could be very helpful! In my classroom, I could apply this tool when recording grades to ensure I have them saved as a picture on my desktop, I could use this to copy and paste pictures into a lesson, I could use it in powerpoints and other presentations as an example of what I am asking my students to do.. This list could go on and on! I am so excited to be able to use this tool in my future classrooms.

For now, I did a quick example of one of my favorite websites, Pinterest! This website is a database for all things DIY for me, even creative ideas, cooking and fitness! This is a website I go to several times a day and I just cannot get enough, I find something new everytime I go!

This second picture isn't a snipped screen, it's just an inspiration about using technology in an integrative and exciting classroom!!
